Tips for Messiah Website
When a new calendar and newsletter are posted to the web, some questions on viewing arise. The most common problem is ‘I can’t find the new newsletter’. Here’s how to bring it out of hiding.
Your Internet browser has a cache memory. What this means is that when you visit a site, it stores the web pages on your computer. When you visit the same website, your computer may bring up the cached (saved) page rather than go and get the page from the website. This is done to save time, especially if you have a dial-up connection.
The problem occurs when your PC brings up the old page after a site has been updated. What happens? You are looking at the old information and not the new information. How do you know this? Look at the Home Page - at the bottom is the update message - Last Updated on <date> If that date is older than the email you just received about the newsletter, you don't have the most recent page!
There are several remedies. First, you can use the Refresh or Reload Icon on your browser to force it to load the pages from the website. You can clear the cache yourself: For Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, click on Tools -> Internet Options -> Delete Temporary Internet Files. A permanent solution is to have the cache emptied automatically when you exit the browser. By default, this option is not on! To turn it on in Internet Explorer, click on Tools Internet Options, and then find the Advanced Tab in the window and click on it. Scroll down until you find the box ‘Empty Temporary Internet Files when browser is closed’. Check the box and then click OK. Now, your browser will clean up after each use. The box looks like this:

Viewing the newsletter – if you have dial-up, the summer news will take a long time to download. To speed it up, ask your Internet provider if they have an accelerator; most have them. This is simple to install and will aid you for downloading then viewing large files. There is a new option to view the current newsletter by page which is faster.
Printing the Calendar - At the bottom of the calendar, there is an option to print.
